Chickpeas (Bengal Gram) With Raw Jackfruit Curry/ Chane Ani Kadgi Ghashi


Prepared with Season’s First  Raw Jackfruit !!!

Chickpeas & Raw Jackfruit in Coconut-Based Gravy ~ A Popular dish among Konkani Community. Tender Raw Jackfruit is an ideal combination with Chickpeas/ chana in a Curry. This Chane gashi is usually prepared for special occasions like weddings, threading ceremony and during other functions or festivals.




Ingredients:
  • Chickpeas/ Bengal gram (Chane) – 1Cup
  • Raw jackfruit pieces (Kadgi) – 1Cup
  • Grated Coconut - 1 Cup
  • Roasted red chillies - 6
  • Tamarind - Pea sized
  • Salt - To taste
  • For Seasoning
    • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
    • Curry leaves - Few
    • Oil – 1 tsp

Recipe:


Wash well, soak chickpeas in water for 6 hours or overnight. Pressure cook it until soft (not too soft). Keep it aside. Pressure cook raw jackfruit pieces separately with little water & salt. Drain the water and keep it aside. Grind grated coconut, roasted red chillies, tamarind into a fine paste adding little water. Transfer cooked chickpeas, cooked jackfruit, ground masala little water and salt. Mix it well and bring it to boil. Lower the flame and cook for another 5 minutes. Turn off the flame. Season it with mustard seeds, curry leaves in oil. Serve this curry with Rice.
