Mitta Uddhkka Gallele Avale Chutney/ Brined (Pickled) Gooseberry Chutney
Gooseberries/ amla's are rich in Vitamin C. As gooseberries are seasonal, these are pickled (preserved in salt solution), so that it can be preserved for long time and used whenever required. This Chutney is simple to prepare.
Recipe:
Wash brined gooseberry (amla/ avalo - 2), cut into pieces & discard the seed. Keep it aside. Grind grated coconut (½ cup), green chillies (2 or 3), garlic pods (3 to 4), & brined gooseberry pieces with little water into a semi coarse paste. Add salt if required (This is optional and only if required as brined gooseberry has enough salt). Transfer this into a bowl. Serve with rice / kanji (Rice Porridge/ Gruel)
