Kadgi Chakko (Raw Jackfruit Sukka/ Stirfry) ~ Konkani Style Raw Jackfruit Dry Dish
Kadgi Chakko is a traditional and Popular Konkani Dish which is Medium Spicy & Dry. Kadgi in Konkani means Raw Jackfruit. Cooked Raw Jackfruit is shredded and cooked with a medium spicy coconut masala.
Recipe:
Clean and cut the jackfruit in to medium sized pieces. Cook the jackfruit pieces (Add little water and salt) till it become soft or cook it in a pressure cooker (Upto 2 whistles). Keep the cooked jackfruit pieces aside after draining water. Mash it slightly with hand. To prepare masala for this dish, Grind coconut (Grated 1 Cup), Roasted Red Chillies, Urad Dal (Previously Roasted), Corriander Seeds (2 tsp) and tamarind into a coarse paste using little water. Now heat a pan, add oil, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds (Optional) and curry leaves. Add the prepared masala and previously cooked & mashed jackfruit and little salt (As required). Sprinkle little water. Cook till it becomes dry.
