Kali Thori ani Kadgi Sukke/ Whole Black Pigeon Peas (dry) with Raw Jackfruit Dry Dish
Kali Thori ani Kadgi SukkeAuthentic Konkani Style Coconut based dry dish which goes well with Rice and Dalithoy (Konkani Style Dal Curry)
Recipe:
- Wash & soak Black Pigeon Peas (½ cup) overnight in water. Pressure cook it until soft/ done. Retain the water (Stock) & keep it aside. Cook raw jackfruit pieces (½ cup) separately in pressure cooker with water until done(3 whistles). Retain the water & keep it aside.
- Heat oil (1 tsp) in a small pan, roast coriander seeds (1 tbsp) & slit black gram dal (urad dal - 1 tsp) separately until brown. Grind grated coconut (1 cup), roasted red chillies (6 to 8), roasted coriander seeds, urad dal, tamarind (small piece) with little water into a semi coarse paste. Keep it aside.
- Heat oil (1 tsp) in a pan/ kadgi, splutter mustard seeds (1 tsp), now add few curry leaves & saute for a second. Now add cooked Black Pigeon Peas, cooked jack pieces, ground masala, salt& little water (stock/ the water in which Black Pigeon Peas was cooked and was retained). Mix it well and bring it to boil. Lower the flame & cook until thick or almost dry. Turn off the flame. Enjoy this with Rice and Dalithoy.
