Keerla Neeli Sukke/ Tender bamboo shoots Dry Dish ~ A Konkani Delicacy
Tender bamboo shoots in Keerlu in Konkani is. Neeli is the topmost, very tender part of bamboo. This sukke (dry) made of tender bamboo shoots, chopped finely.
Recipe:
Heat oil in a small frying pan, add coriander seeds (1 tbsp), urad dal (1 tbsp). Fry it till aroma comes (Brown). Keep is aside. In same pan fry red chilies (6) and keep it aside. In a mixer grinder, grind coconut gratings (1 Cup), previously fried red chilies, coriander seeds, urad dal, tamarind, jiggery (little) and water (little) into coarse paste. Now heat a pan, add oil, then mustard seeds, let it splutter and add curry leaves & saute it. Add Tender Bamboo shoots (1 ½ Cup), finely chopped Potato (1) & Onion (1) and little water. Cook under cover till soft. Add salt and the previously ground masala. Mix well and boil it under low flame till it becomes little dry. Serve it hot with Rice and Dalithoy (Dal Curry/ Konkani Style Lentils)
